Two New Members

Two new members have arrived to the team, under two research scholarships granted by FCT. On the team of the Science Faculty of Lisbon we have Christian Marques, who is graduated in computer engineering in 2007 by the same faculty. Right now he is doing his Master in Science degree under the issue of the Information Systems. On the other hand, Sara Garcia is working with the team of the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon. She is a product designer, graduated in 2009 by that faculty, and she is doing her Master in Science degree under the subject of the CAD technologies in product design.

A fellowship to join the team

We invite applications for a fellowship granted by FCT.
The call is available at:

http://www.fa.utl.pt/images/PDF/investigacao/edital_bic_fct_ptdcauraqi_098388_2008.pdf

and at:

This new member will participate in the scheduled tasks, namely the organizational management, and will meet a supporting environment to his own advanced studies, necessarily related to the area of the project.

The research debut

The official date to the start of the NAADIR research project was scheduled to April 1st 2010.
However, since the team knew the project was to be funded, several preliminary tasks have been tackled, in order to get some advance. Particularly, regular meetings have been taking place, gathering mainly the researchers more related to Geometry, Mathematics and Computer science. In these work sessions, it was discussed the theoretical framework of the Extended Perspective System (EPS) and the formal definition for the implementation, linking geometrical concepts to an adequate algebraic description. The early approach to the computational implementation of the EPS is being done with the help of Matlab and Octave software. As a result of these activities, we accomplished a raw prototype that already gives rise to the first EPS depictions of architectural subjects.
This state of the research allowed the team to present a Poster at the NEXUS 2010 Conference, which took place at Oporto last June (http://www.nexusjournal.com/2010/index.html).
